I've already said that I don't think that the Confederate Flag should be flown on government grounds, just in case anybody believes that I am some far-right crazy who celebrates Dixie. This action by TV land, in particular, is just an egregious whitewashing of history. And people need to remember that "The Dukes of Hazzard" was a show that never employed any hint of racism. Furthermore, we need to look at the context of the times this show as made; back in 1979-85, placing the Confederate Flag on merchandise and props didn't have nearly the racially-charged stigma that it now has.
If we have become a hyper-sensitive society, then this same "logic" would require the networks to ban any movie that featured a shot of the Twin Towers.

See this is exactly why people like me say it shouldn't have been taken down from government buildings. Give them an inch and they take a mile. Others, whether in this case its blacks and always progressives, should not get to (re)define others historical and cultural flags, mascots, symbols and monuments in a manner and effort to get them banned, censored and cleansed. It's just a form historical, cultural and ethnic censoring and cleansing. Madness.
This is ridiculous. Are people expecting race relations to get better because a flag is removed from view.
This just proves this opinion is on the money - it's all about power. In that article, it says...
The left will destroy the things you care about, because you care about them. It will destroy them because that gives them power over you. It will destroy them because these things stand in the way of its power.
What else could this confederate flag nonsense be - except an exercise in power? Because it certainly does nothing for improving race relations.

While we will have to agree to disagree about the Confederate Flag being flown on government buildings, you are totally correct about saying "give them an inch and they take a mile." To many on the extreme left, this is exactly their m.o.
Perhaps I am being naïve, but I am hoping that there is going to be a big backlash from this, which--in turn--will keep the left as far away from the levers of power as possible.
Luckily, most people don't watch TV Land anymore. There new "classics" are garbage, mostly not very family friendly. I remember when theyd have on Sanford and Son, Hitchcock presents, Green Acres, etc etc etc. REAL classics.
So why hasn't Fox picked up Dukes of Hazzard and Miss Universe? Are they 'the left'?
