If it were commonplace for lawful citizens to open carry, what do you think would happen to the number of incidents of robbery or assault, vandalism, etc?
I would imagine robberies and assaults would probably be reduced. Vandalism is another matter altogether. I imagine vandalism as something done when no one else is around.

If it was common you would trade non-violent crime for a significant increase in gun related homicides including road rage, spouse conflicts, accidental death, and suicide.

In the last 10 years gun Concealed Handgun permits have tripled while Murder rates have fallen. The major problem with guns violence today is pretty much restricted to inner city ghettos with young Black males committing most of the murders.
Open Carry was just passed in TX and several states and in most cases will result in a continuation of smaller numbers of deaths.
Chris, you're from Chicago. You should know how this all works. Criminals prefer to assault and murder people who are defenseless.
