The news media has really taken off on the killing of this Cecil the lion by the Minnesota dentist. I don't agree with the hunting of these animals, and whether or not it was illegal adds legal weight to the mix, but when you look at the dramatic loss of human life - whether that's ISIS, abortion, killings on the streets in the urban areas, etc, - doesn't it seem like there's too much outrage over the loss of a lion?
Why is this shocking? Have you ever seen the social media outrage whenever a little kitten or puppy is hurt or killed by a human? Pictures of starving, diseased kids in Africa - not so much.

We saw more public outrage over a bare nipple at the Super Bowl than over bloody, costly, unnecessary wars of choice so this is pretty much just business as usual.
I despise trophy hunting and find it abhorrent, but I also find social media witch hunts by holier than thou types disturbing and despicable. There are people I know that have entire rooms filled with trophies like Cecil the Lion..Should every one of them have their lives destroyed because of an act I don't respect?

The dude strapped a dead animal to his vehicle to attract the lion out of the refuge. What kind of hunting is that?
Apparently he injured the lion with an arrow without killing it. Then he spent 40 hours tracking down the wounded lion before delivering a fatal shot with his rifle.
Hope that man got his killing thrill out of his system. What another black eye for the reputation of America!
As usual we see a lot of pontificating by people that readily demonstrate that have zero actual knowledge of the subject. Amusing to watch.
The only real issue in this whole deal is that there was no lion quota for the area where this happened which makes it illegal. The rest is a lot of emotive, ignorant claptrap.
The dentist should have spent his 55K to help people instead of senselessly killing.
