Because voting rights trump (sorry) states rights. No state has a right to discriminate against its citizens when it comes to voting. The 5th CC said the Texas law was discriminatory, and as others have pointed out, that was probably a painful decision for them given their right tilt.

... didn't realize that 600,000 voters were excluded in the November elections.
Firstly I doubt it was that many, in PA they tried comparing the voting rolls to who had a state issue ID and came up with some ridiculous number. By only comparing the state ID they excluded the invalid and fraudulent registrations, military ID, passports, college ID and old folks home ID.
Secondly they excluded themselves. There is no valid excuse for not obtaining a free ID.
Yea, lets ignore he believed in voter ID law in Kenya but not in the U.S.
Because that is the law in Kenya. If you want maybe Congress could try to create an amendment that requires everyone to have a federal photo ID to vote.
