Many of us are fiscally conservative and social liberals or on the fence. You can be a Republican and share these views, many of us do. There is no way to find a party or a candidate that any of us believe in 100%. I loved Reagan, he was and is one of my heros but I didn't agree with everything he did or he believed.

Republican is the only party that understands and calls out the greatest threat of our times by what it is; Islamic terrorism.

Islamic terrorism is only going to increase as the Muslim population grows in the West.

I don't know how a person can be a conservative if you're for progressive beliefs like gay marriage, feminism, mass immigration, gun control and PC, diversity and multiculturalism. Republicans are not really forcing any social issues on anyone. They're not banning abortion or anything else.

RINOs are simply for the rich. They want to replace government with private controlled Politically correct governance. They're not conservative, maybe libertarian. It's like they take all the worse ideas from the left and the right, to make concentrated bad ideas.

All these things bother me, but what bothers me most, is the complete lack of intellectual depth of the current Republican party. We no longer see intelligent articulate Republican politicians and commentators like William F Buckley, Barry Goldwater, Dwight Eisenhower and Ronald Reagan. What we see now amongst American conservatives is a willing joy of ignorance, a race to the intellectual bottom.
Ronald Reagan? RONALD REAGAN? How did this myth ever get started that he was somehow a "good" President? People talk about him like he was a special person because of his "tear down that wall" rhetoric....like he was in charge. Uh...maybe no. People seem to skip over his immigration policy.....3 million undocumenteds got a free ride; tax hikes for you and me; union busting; raiding social security...not to mention his "Bush" moment (based on "intelligence"...excuse the pun) where he chose to fund those who would ultimately attack our country on 9-11. Charismatic? Sure. A great leader? History has been VERY kind to him in this regard, but if you look at his record...not no much.

But I digress. Intellectual depth....there wasn't much of that on the stage last Thursday. Maybe Carson....Kasich? (home field advantage?)...and I didn't hear Fiorina, but heard she did well.....
The rest? Dumb and dumber.

Which is a shame, because we need fiscally conservative leadership. Socially? They seem to be, as you say, a couple of generations behind. The environment? Women's rights? Health Care? Veterans affairs? Guns? Even with control of both houses they can't seem to stop their out of control spending. Education? Energy?

They are nowhere on any of these contemporary issues while they pander to the "money" that will fund their campaigns while they ignore ignore the needs of the people who they supposedly serve.

And at a time when the democrats have nothing...Hillary? Biden? Bernie is smoking them with the voters, but sadly doesn't stand a chance to get elected.

I am an independent...show me a decent person and I will get behind them. Republican? Communist? Socialist? Libertarian? Democrat? Can't someone do better than that bunch of people the Republicans put on stage last week?

I saw a placard last night: "Donald Trump driving the Republican Clown Car". True on both counts.

..not to mention their constant bashing of the Ron Paul wing..

It is really the two problems- with the archaic social platform.
I would also throw in their Hawkish Imperialistic Defense platform.
Then he needs to remain a Democrat and live his whatever turns him on lifestyle. After all he is among the elite of Democrat party.

The judgement of modern Presidents is largely and illogically based on how the economy performed during their term.
The mid 80s and early-mid 90s were extremely prosperous economic times. Hence CLinton and Regan are revered probably more than they should be.

And yet every Republican and Democratic law maker is more than happy to sell America out to that enemy. Where does Islamic State, Al-qaeda and the rest get their money from? SAUDI ARABIA. Who is standing up to them? NOBODY.

The first politician to call them out gets my vote.

Exactly. I mean, is the Liberty Wing of the GOP completely welcome? No. But does it exist? Yes.

Imagine if a Democrat was to be socially liberal but not fiscally liberal? Do you think he or she would be given a chance, or just steamrolled by the union, the activists etc? At least the GOP does have some internal debates, unlike the Democrats which have melted into one monolithic block under Obama.
