If they receive a direct order to do something I expect they would comply. However, being a complex and expensive crime to tackle, it wouldn't be fair to force a municipality with limited income to take on the responsibility.

The liberals are the ones howling about the clerk not following the law yet are silent about their liberal mayors who create sanctuary cities like San Francisco, Portland, Seattle. Where are the complaints from the left about those government officials not upholding the law? Just another example of the 'do as I say, not as I do' policy from the progressives.
