Isn't some sort of intention to deceive part of a hoax? Because as far as the articles go, every time he was asked, he said it was a clock. Which it was. The idiots in the local police department had to come up with "lack of a broader explanation" - whatever that means - to justify their overreaction.
Don't you get it? He only said it was a clock because, well, besides the fact that it indeed was a clock, by telling them it was a clock he was attempting to throw them off of the fact that it really WASN'T a HOAX bomb! Or something. I know it sounds confusing, but that's only because it is just that ingenious! But don't worry, he didn't fool all the conservatives here. They can't quite figure out why was such a dastardly deed, but they sure know it was!!!

Some guy posted a diagram of the countdown clock that showed how it sends out an electrical charge when the countdown has finished (which could be hooked up to explosives). I wonder what store would sell something like this in the modern age.
