Gun laws in Chicago are still vastly MORE restrictive than almost anywhere else in the country which doesn't have the problems Chicago has. If guns are the problem why doesn't Boise have a higher crime rate than Chicago? Or Seattle where the only requirement for a concealed pistol permit is to not be a felon, no classes required, no tests just a few dollars for the permit.

Guns aren't Chicagos problem. The people in some parts of Chicago are the problem.
Some people DON'T wanna face the ugly truth that Black ghettos are breeding grounds of violent crime. IMHO it's gotten worse since the decent Black families left not too long ago.

'Less' is a relative term.

So murders continued with restrictive gun laws and 'less' restrictive gun laws?

What does that tell you?

Think about.

It says, after reaching the point of diminishing return, gun laws are ineffective at reducing the violence downstream of gangs, drugs and drug buyers.

It says legislators are ignoring the clues the predictability of murder clusters demonstrate. "Duh, I know a murder will take palce here, because the last 100 murders were centered around this streeet. So if I pass another gun law nothing will happen. Ah ha, I'll pass another gun law. "

It says voters are bewildered and confused and have infinite tolerance for murder in their community.

And the murder rate in Lincoln Park is 30x lower than it is in Austin. (neighborhoods)

Same gun laws, same cops, just 3 miles apart......

Gee, couldn't possibly be poverty, drugs and lack of jobs\education?

Nope. Those things cost money to address.

Let's blame guns!

Guns have nothing to do with problem.
Low life People who are uneducated and don't value anything is the problem.

Hard to believe anyone who would fire randomly at people and kill babies and little children.

Chicago had 931 murders in 1994. At the current rate, this year's total will be barely half that.

The vast majority of Chicago crime is gang related and occurs on the South or West side. Unless you live in these areas, nothing to get excited about. As mentioned, Chicago doesn't rank anywhere near the top when you look at per capita homicide rates.

You ignore that everything evolves. What begat the black ghettos? Black oppression, white flight = creation of black ghettos.

Nope... can't address the culture aspect of this problem.

Someone might get offended or something. Totally off limits.

I call BS on that since the murder rate in the Black hoods was MUCH lower when Jim Crow was the law. Tho when the decent Black people left the ghettos, that's when things went to hell IMHO. So maybe you need to blame "white" people for ENDING Jim Crow. Sheesh!
