19 Years After Passing Strict Gun Control Laws, Here's What Happened in Australia - Mic

It has worked well in Australia, let's do the same in America. It seems like conservatives do not mind regular mass shootings taking place in this country as it has happened.

People that suggest what you are aren't thinking enough and or have stock in the gun companies and want a run on guns that occurs every time people suggest this. These laws would make things worse like our War on Drugs has done with drugs.. People need to stop suggesting half baked plans. The black market for guns would grow larger (especially with an open border), and or people would find a shortcut to get guns through stores like having somebody else go in for them and or stealing guns.

Apples and Oranges. Just because it might work in one country doesn't mean it will work here. Anyway, who is going to remove guns from every single household? Even if the magic fairy did, a person can STILL find a gun. Look at Chicago. Guns are illegal there. Yet it has one of the highest gun violence rates in the country.

Agreed, it's not a gun issue, but a mental health issue.

But the gun culture is different and much smaller in Australia, and they don't have the 2nd Amendment to contend with.

Worth noting: Australians, like Canadians in another low crime country, aren't ***holes or mentally crazy like Americans are.

It's similar to the way the Islamic religion is not the problem. Instead, crazy Muslims are the problem.

Then how about we require every person who wants to own a gun undergo a comprehensive psych evaluation first? If it's all a mental health issue, then that would solve the problem, right? Would all the gun owners here be willing to undergo such a test?

In other words, just because Australia's gun control works well for them is no sign it will work well for us.
