Trump spending virtually nothing on his campaign up to this point. He throws the rocks and let's the media give him all the coverage he could ever need. Brilliant. Now as we get closer, he will supplement that with his very deep pockets. It won't matter what anyone else can spend, he has set the bar. Now all these fools are spending insane amounts of money and getting nowhere. It shows you exactly who knows how to run things at full capacity while saving money in the process. Smart businessman and plays the media like a fiddle. That is political genius.

and to add, trump is smart enough to know that in this day and age bad publicity is better than none.
IMO Obama was a political genius. I'm referring to his 2008 campaign. He did a spectacular job of claiming what results he would achieve, without saying anything specific about how to accomplish them.
Most politicians try something like this, but Obama was exceptionally good at it.
Reagan was arguably a political genius, but only in the sense that he was really, really good at crafting a narrative that Americans responded to.
If Trump gets elected president, i'll call him a 'political genius.' But I think his message is too offensive to win.
Well, the first problem I see with your question is that "political genius" is an oxymoron.
Do you want a leader who can win a campaign, like Obama?
Or do you want an intelligent leader who is intellectually gifted with a deep understanding of the Constitution and the constraints it imposes on the government?
Sadly, our Presidential elections have become nothing more than a reflection of Reality TV, like American Idol or Survivor, where the popularity of the person or the ability "to play the game" is more important than whether the person has the character, intelligence and skills that will make that person the best and truest leader for the US.
