Does this mean women are "fair game" outside of the safe zones?! I used to think European people weer pretty intelligent, but muslims are WAY smarter than they are. I've never seen stupidity on such a massive scale as Europe is currently demonstrating.

I was thinking the same thing.

Seems to me that some European politicians fell out of the stupid tree and hit every branch on the way down.

You don't have to SAY it. That's where you are going. If you support the concept of "safe zones" then what zone is safer than under the veil. You can take your safety with you. You are Ok with the concept.

No, they are not stupid. They wan their votes. They look at at the US and see how millions were added to the Democratic vote column by illegal immigration. California will never go Republican again.

Another classic GLOBAL example of making women change their behaviors to avoid sexual harassment/ assault.

All women I know have their own safety strategy when out and about during the evening hours.

Vigilance, self- defence training, pepper spray, car keys positioned as weapons, running shoes and sometimes a firearm are common strategies.

Most women avoid dressing in a provacative manner when out and about, alone. Most women would not think to hit a bar for a night cap at midnight , less they knew the people in the bar or were traveling with companions.

Most women are aware that if they take their eye off their beverage in a public place, some guy may drop some drug into it.

Most women realize that public intoxication increases their risks unless a part of a group or accompanied by a man and even then....

Hospitals and other large scale employers with shift changes during the wee hours typically patrol parking lots/ levels. In some areas, an escort might be provided.

Universities all over the US have some semblance of " No means No" education.

Women know they will be stigmatized if they report rape. Their attire, manner, choice of location and especially intoxication will be used to blame the victim. Rape is substantially underreported.

Japan has, for over ten years, provided women the opportunity to segregate themselves from men, while commuting, at all hours. Cities in Brazil, Taiwan, Mexico, Thailand and India have done the same.

And absolutely none of these altered behaviors and municipal/ national responses have a dang thing to do with Muslim men.

A heck of a lot of men, all over the world, have serious impulse control issues. Alcohol and male pack mentalities just make it worse.

OK - you're the German authorities. There is a massive carnival happening in the next few days
What do you do?
Import a shipload of guns and hand them out to women?
Set up a perimeter around the carnival and ban any man who looks like a Muslim?
Import more American men to look after the women because the European ones are pansies?
Do nothing and hope nothing happens?

That is not at all what I was saying, thank you very much. I am saying that if you look at the complete picture of the approach the authorities in Cologne are taking, it paints a very different picture than if you assume that the "Safe zones" are being presented as a solution to the problem of public safety for women. It is a VERY different thing to provide a safe zone (or a safe ride system) as a backup plan in case things go wrong than it is to provide it as a solution to rape. One is sexist. The other is pragmatic.

I wonder if a German woman who ventures out of one of these 'safe zones' is attacked......will she be blamed for not staying in the designated area?

If I were a woman at the carnival I'd make a point of disregarding these invisible lines of safety. Rights can so easily be stripped....we're not talking about children...talking about women. Grown women.

The Left's war on women... so as to accommodate their favorite minority religious group.
