No, not even close at all. For starters, they were in Iranian territory, you can figure out the rest from there...

Additionally, there is no such protocol you speak of.

Great comparison.
Look up the word rendition and then we can discuss. I also missed the declaration of war by Congress for what's going on. Technically we're not at war with anyone. Unless it's drugs, or drunk driving, or terror. After terror can we have war on mild fear?

Well, at least Iran did not blow the boats out of the water as Obama and team claimed they have the right to do.

At least Iran did not waterboard and hold them indefinitely without trial.

Absolutely! WHO ISSUED THE ORDER TO STAND DOWN? Since when does an armed American Navy boat stand down when approached by a similarly armed Iranian boat? Then Kerry thanks the Iranians When will we get rid of these Bozos

When the American warship has crossed into another nation's territorial waters without permission or declaring intent?

Or was it a rhetorical question?

In Iranian waters? Since forever. As much as it hurts some, we are not at war with Iran.

They were in Iranian territory, there is/are no "stand down" things you speak of like there are in movies. There are ROEs to follow for any given area, even in the US.

The entire story has not been released about the boats, however, the on scene in-charge made the determination for the best course of action, meaning since they are in a disabled boat in Iranian territory, it is best not to open fire since again, in Iranian territory.

If Iranian were normal, they would have just offered assistance to the boats and escorted them out of Iranian waters. However, Obama and team made it perfectly clear that countries have the right to fire upon and destroy any territorial breach, no matter the intent, so we are lucky that Iran did not take upon Obama and team's offer to destroy any foreign military intrusion of territory.

Have you actually eve been in the military? And if so ever served in one of these areas? Do you think people just can shoot at what ever when ever? Like a free for all?

The boats illegally entered Iranian territory, I do not see what is so difficult to understand about that. Iran took them into custody and released them the next time.

As for the videos, maybe it is Iran's version of "transparency".

What? People were imprisoned and tortured, even murdered for criticizing the Shah or his policies.

The MEK was running amok engaging in "terrorist" activities.

Iran was fully repressed.

Exactly.

The elephant in the room is that two US ships were in Iranian waters.

Anyone want to explain how that happened?

...so your orders would have been for a small craft to fire on the larger Iranian boat while in their territorial waters just days before we sign a nuclear disarmament deal with the country or perhaps call for help so that we could start a larger gunfight - again in Iranian waters. A move our close allies in the GCC would have surely been very unhappy with.

All this in a strait that carries 40% of the world oil. Let just say that there is a reason we have experienced soldiers in charge of these operations.
