"Begin by acknowledging the obvious -- successful Democratic Socialism requires mountains of tax revenue to finance all the handouts. Absent sufficient income, everything is empty rhetoric. Put colloquially, Democratic Socialism requires flocks of Golden Geese, all happy to lay ample golden eggs."

I think its better then the GOP version being put in place here in NC.

Flat Tax, removes all deductions, causes the average earner to pay more and more often. More taxes on all items sold, more and higher taxes on property, higher taxes on Real Estate, taxes on labor costs. More taxes required to be collected by business making them the State Dept. of Revenue. The need to have bonds for simple repairs of infrastructure.

Lower taxes for the people who pay for their campaign.

With skin in the game, they may think before they vote.

The article makes a great point:

Quote:
It is assumed that people and their values are world-wide interchangeable so if all Norwegians suddenly departed and Somali immigrants replaced them, Norway’s democratic socialism would scarcely miss a beat.

Absolute nonsense...
Bernie doesn't seem to understand that social equality is what makes socialism possible in Scandanavia and social inequality is what make socailism impossible elsewhere, including America. It's not like you can just impose socialism and inequality will cease to exist. You need social eqaulity for socialism to succeed in the first place.

Making everyone equal as a robot, has been job #1.
This nation was created as a Union of different nations, with one goal. Government treating everyone equally among the nations in the union......

I live in N.C. and disagree with your opinions.

My idea is to eliminate the 16th Amendment and be done with the experiment of a more powerful government, than the People.

The boot on the throats of the people, that are suppose to be free from government oppression......

I found the article to be excruciatingly correct.

Socialism requires far more than programs and the taxes to pay for them, it requires a social mindset on the part of its citizens, even Karl Marx could tell you that. It requires a citizenry collectively dedicated to a civil society. In a country that has never figured out how to balance individualism with the collective needs of society, the U.S. is still far too immature to even to begin the formulations necessary to achieve a democratic socialist state. Our history of racism, violence, class warfare, and greed precludes any such development although I find it interesting that a conservative article would glance over the policies from both the right and the left that have created these conditions.

For socialism to gain, the opposition has to be silenced by elimination.(violence)
