General Breedlove considered Ukraine an "opportunity"
to start World War 3, sought advice from Colin Powell,
Wesley Clark and other military notables on how to push
the President into supporting engagement with Russia.
Breedlove was frustrated by Obama's resistance to war.

https://theintercept.com/2016/07/01/...eneral-emails/

Yet another example of a rare, but incredibly important
reason why we might want to be thankful that Obama
has been President for the last 8 years. I did not vote for him,
and I am a conservative, but I do not want war abroad,
especially against a country that can destroy our lives.

We know Obama resisted war against Syria (officially)
against much pressure. We know he resisted war against
Iran, and did not bow to Netanyahu. Now we know he
resisted war against Russia in the Ukraine.
Obama fired Breedlove in May, and forced his retirement.

If McCain or Romney were elected, we could be a radioactive
wasteland right now.

Wait, last time I checked, the Congress must approve any war. Why should we thank Obama?

Obama resisted the war in Syria? Obama supported deposing Assad as he did Ghadafi.

There are many Cambodians who would argue that point.

The U S lead by both parties are war mongers and are itching for a fight and that is obvious. Look how the right was beating the war drums against Iran. Look what the U S has done to Syria. Any over throw of gvts can be laid at the door step of the U S and look at the consequences.

On the right you have them talking about carpet bombing and using nukes and on the left you have Hillary talking about a no fly zone in Syria to push up against Russia. I really think the leaders want a big war, to them it is a good way to gas the profits of the MIC and cull the herd at the same time. Win, win.

Obama has used good judgement on a couple occasions ignoring the 50 CFR/MIC officials and the State dept and not heeding their advice on boots on the ground in Syria. And this story is another.

We can speculate all day long about what would have happened, if...

It's all just speculation.

Same here. If your goal is to start World War 3 with Russia, Colin Powell and Wesley Clark are probably not the people to approach for advice on war mongery.
