I never said anything about blame. I don't find it remarkable that the CIA didn't have a totally correct assessment within the first several days after the attack. I would think that is fairly common and nothing unusual.

I guess the analogy I would use, when the police are investigating a crime. If they don't know who did it within the first several days I wouldn't blame them for not knowing.

Think about this Hillary lovers.

Do any of you believe that IF there was even a 'hint' that any of us lowly people had had access to government secrets and used our own computers to communicate with .. whomever, How long would it be before we lowly people would be arrested .. or .. AT LEAST detained?

Obama's strongest moment in the debates was when he looked into the camera with indignation and denied that he or anyone in his administration misled America about Benghazi.

Which of course was a lie and how easy and natural it came for him. I wish I could be surprised that democrats don't care about the lies.

And meanwhile the biggest liar in Politics just was handed the GOP nomination. No this is just the beginning of the Trumpets and the crap which will be thrown onto the wall.

Trump is the biggest liar with the smallest hands for a man of his girth.

I have yet to hear a Trump criticism that does not apply more to Obama. They turn a blind eye to Obama.

The only reason the CIA error matters is because the Republicans built a whole scenario around the Obama Administration making up a story because of the upcoming election. Otherwise the couple weeks it took the CIA to garner more complete information on the attack would be insignificant.
I expect people at that level would have the wisdom not to rush to conclusion, nor throw whatever they have 'based on what we know now' out for public consumption. That's reactionary and I expect our intelligence services not to operate in that mode. All they needed to say was they were gathering information and would release it as soon as it's confirmed. They could have said they're looking at several possible causes...this...that...or other...but instead they declared with certainty while they knew it was, at best, just a guess (based on incomplete information).

They had weeks "to garner more complete information" during which time they surely knew they should call off Rice and the concerted effort on everyone's part to mislead us. It wasn't even "more complete information" -- it was totally different information.

THAT is the reason the error matters. Shifting the blame to Republicans claiming the Administration made up the story because of upcoming election really says that the Obama Administration put the information out there in haste to counter that charge. That would not surprise me in the least.

Me thinks thou dost protest too much.

Susan Rice was on the Sunday shows on 9/16. The intelligence services changed their assessment on 9/24. So we are talking about a 13 day period. That is not a long period for this type of incident. Anyone hearing the information should know, even if it wasn't said and it was, that it was preliminary information.

The 9/24 assessment was not totally different from the 9/12 assessment. In fact the intelligence services and Susan Rice always included the extremist or terrorist element involved in the attack.

"All they needed to say was they were gathering information and would release it as soon as it's confirmed. They could have said they're looking at several possible causes...this...that"

You mean like what Susan Rice said on the Sunday shows.

On ABC

MS. RICE: Well, Jake, first of all, it’s important to know that there’s an FBI investigation that has begun and will take some time to be completed. That will tell us with certainty what transpired.
But our current best assessment, based on the information that we have at present, is that,...

On CBS

MS. RICE: So we’ll want to see the results of that [FBI] investigation to draw any definitive conclusions. But based on the best information we have to date, what our assessment is as of the present is in fact..

On Fox

MS. RICE: Well, first of all, Chris, we are obviously investigating this very closely. The FBI has a lead in this investigation. The information, the best information and the best assessment we have today is that in fact...

On NBC

MS. RICE: Well, let us– let me tell you the– the best information we have at present. First of all, there’s an FBI investigation which is ongoing. And we look to that investigation to give us the definitive word as to what transpired. But putting together the best information that we have available to us today our current assessment is that what happened in Benghazi was in fact..

I don't understand why this point needs to be explained again and again not to mention the point of the hearings was to make sure this never happened again. They always end up back at the video.
