I've been seeing a lot of people on the web and message boards put a ton of focus on race and crime statistics. And it has many many many people who definitely believe that blacks are inherently more violent than other racial groups. Now we could always debate how accurate this is, but it does technical remain a reality. However we have to keep things in perspective.
Crime in general is low in the USA. You are talking about a country of 300+ million committing about 4,000 5,000 homicides in a given year. That's not a lot. It may be more than some other western countries, but in general it's not an insane murder statistic. Black commit half of that, so that mean 2,000 murders a year are shared among 40 million people. That's hardly a big percentage.
So this is below are some of the ideas of why race and crime is just counter productive.
1. Only a small subset of black people are violent criminals.
Less than 5% of any black group commit any sort of murder
2. Crime has gone down every year since 1994, only seeing a small spike in 2015.
Basically the black population has increased in this time, but crime statistics in general have decreased for blacks and America in general. So this mean a shrinking homicide number is decreasing amongst a wide population group.
3. Most black male incarceration are due to drugs not gun violence or murder
Some people who are fixated on black crime generally love to ignore this point. But black incarceration rates are a reflection concerning the War On Drugs. It's a failure.
4. Black crime rates have not always been high
Up until the 1960s and 1970s black crime rates were lower than white crime rates.
5. Focusing on race and crime statistics are from people who are anti-individualism and anti-liberty
The only fallout from race and crime statistics is that people believe it should dictate social policies. This means that they believe in a heavy amount of statism, in which people cannot be judged individually.
6. Race and crime advocates ignore the Prison Industrial Complex. And generally are anti-free market and pro-protectionist
At the end of the day, while many race and crime advocates tend to call themselves conversative. They believe mostly in very Keynesian ideals. Such as state based protectionism for businesses. Prison Industrial complex tend to be this, as there is no adherence towards the market at all.
7. Black crime would go down if we promoted more free market and anarcho-capitalist ideals
You want to know why black crime is so high? Because blacks decided to stop policing their community. And the state has basically made vigilantism illegal among the black community. This mean that black people are FORCED to used cops to police their neighborhoods.
If we got rid of all of the cops in black neighborhoods and put a gun in every black home. The sensible black people in poor neighborhoods would chase off the drug dealers and gangs. There is your solution for peace.
REAL statistical studies show that crime is a function of poverty, not pigmentation and blacks have more poverty due to our countries history.
Uneducated idiots with a racial agenda will of course not recognize that, they are just looking for something *simple* that fits their worldview.
It's no different than all the garbage about "red states" and "blue states".
Poor Asians commit crimes at the same rate as poor Blacks?
And to the OP, emphasis on crime and race is counterproductive? Okay, you first. Emphasis on race and the Oscars' is counterproductive. Emphasis on race and STEM jobs in Silicon Valley is counterproductive. Emphasis on race and NFL coaches is counterproductive. Black black blackity black all the time, except when it comes to test scores, violent crime, rates of STD infection and other negative indicators, right? Very convenient.

When you say "Uneducated idiots with a ....." are you referring the the FBI who collects crime data in the USA, or, are you projecting your views into the other side?
One way to test the "poverty causes crime" statistics is to compare racial/ethnic groups with similar degrees of wealth and poverty. In other words what does the crime rate look like between blacks versus Hispanics? And then between whites versus Asians?
