They aren't "undocumented" they are illegal aliens. The federal government has mandated that every child on our soil is entitled to an education. I imagine many things are waived in regards to those here illegally at enrollment time in our schools.

A wink and a nod...

GW. Bush's buddy, Rick Perry.... They both wanted cheap labor in here so their rich corporate and small businesses, could undercut the other states in the nation, for a Friendly and profitable business atmosphere = more money in the State coffers.

The housing boom here that has never slowed even in 2007-2009, was able to stay in business because of illegal labor, while Americans were told, it is a job you don't like to do and sat home looking for a fast food job, part time.

I'm going to remind everyone again that illegals from all over the world run underground economy unlicensed businesses in the U.S., employ illegals while paying no FICA, and pay no federal income tax, etc.

Illegal immigrants' place in the 'underground' economy often reflects culture as well as caution

All the kids that are flooding across the borders, because OBAMA said, come on over, are now being placed into schools and the parents of Americans are upset. No child left behind, means everyone in the class has to lower their education achievements, to not be ahead of those so far behind. The dumbing down of students, not ready for college.

Congrats to her on her achievement. It's unfortunate that DACA is on hold. Her situation isn't her fault.

So what? Does she write better than the valedictorian? Is she just as or more active in the community?

We all witnessed Misty's speech to the class, was by far way better than the self serving and narcissistic entitlement tone of this speech.
A speech from this , that started out... "I always knew I'd be standing here today on this stage giving this speech."

Family here from out of town, all looked at each other and said, "what was that", when she finished.

It won't be. UT has already commented on the fact that they offer scholarships to everyone whether documented or not. Save your mean spirited post for another time.

This makes no sense? So put illegals before your own citizens? This country is definitely broken .
Are those American citizens valedictorians?

This is the same line of thinking that trots out "Americans won't do these jobs". BS

Yes, because pointing out that this student's academic achievement resulted in her scholarship, not her national origin, is of course the same thing. Oy vey.
