And it's not really a matter of banning Muslims, but keeping out anyone from/involved with certain countries, such as Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Somalia.

Muslim immigrants from places like Indonesia, Ethiopia, Iran, Lebanon, etc don't seem to be nearly as problematic.

But still, there needs to be an extremely thorough and no-holds-barred screening for every prospective immigrant. The type of investigation that enlightened us about the Orlando swine's anti-American father needs to be done BEFORE letting them in. NOT after something goes wrong!
So what do we do with the American Muslims already in place here? You can't revoke their citizenship, or deport them. So, what do you think we should do?

That's what needs to be done. If those dangerous idiots can't post on the web and nobody sees it, it isn't spread around the world.

The home-grown terrorists are being indoctrinated by the crap they read on the web, and travelling to learn Jihad in Islamic countries.

Ban travel to those nations, we did it once for Iran, we had travel bans for Cuba, it can be prohibited to any predominantly Islamic nation as well.
So you are ok with greenlighting possibly a very dangerous precedent that anyone who disagrees with the government in any way should be "dealt with"? Remember you go after one group, then EVERYONE is fair game. That's how the US government works. You seem to be endorsing the idea that the US government follow in China's footsteps, which does the SAME EXACT thing you are proposing.

Very reductionist and simple reasoning. The world is more complex than that. We can shut ourselves off from the rest of the world and become a hermit kingdom like North Korea, but they aren't very well off for it.

A temporary ban while we work out a proper vetting process is a good idea.
You also seem to think future attacks will be perpetrated only by foreign Muslims. When, the evidence overwhelmingly has pointed to radicalized Americans, not foreign fighters

When his father entered the US, did he already possess "anti-American" feelings? You can't honestly answer this question, because you don't know. What's not to say he was pro-American before, but recently he hasn't? People change their minds.

Second question, how is the ban going to work against Muslim-Americans?

maybe there are sleeper cells in the USA. muslims that have been here for years or decades just waiting to be activated.

Because he did anti-American talk shows back in Afghanistan. That doesn't sound very pro-American to me.

This is exactly what has happened. This wasn't something that happened overnight. My mother was in the Air Force before she passed away and a few weeks after 9/11 one of her college professors in Texas(muslim) went missing one morning. His wife called the police, fearful that something had happened to him.

After searching the home suspecting foul play, they found a room in his basement with a couple of deadbolts on the door. His wife said she had never been allowed into the room and didn't know what was in there. Once the FBI got involved and got into the room, they found a setup similar to what you would expect to find from a spy. Gun safes (mostly empty), passports, fake ID's, foreign currency, the whole 9. They also found a computer that was linked to some potential terrorist cells.

An APB was put out on the professor and he was caught in the Carolina's on his way to DC with a trunk full of weapons. It was eventually found that he was waiting to be activated and had plans to go to DC and kill as many people as he could.

He had been here for over 20 years.

Stopping immigration would slow down the number of terrorists who are still coming. That would allow the government to better deal with the ones already here, instead of having threats coming from multiple angles.

Or maybe there aren't. I choose not to live in perpetual fear. I've gotten robbed at gunpoint before, by a white American citizen. I'm not gonna live in fear that every white out there is trying to kill me.

We can't go back in time. But what can be done, is not make the same mistake going forward.

yes you can revoke their citizenship. if they came here under false pretenses, then they can lose their citizenship.

Its unrealistic and you're a moron if you believe that a president can ban a specific religion from entering this country. Secondly, how can you prove someone's religion!?

Trump is using that to drum up support. He's playing to the fears of many americans and its working.

Exactly. There has to be a line drawn in the sand at one point. You can't just continue on with something that just isn't working and expect the problem to fix itself. No one would take a boat into the ocean with holes in it and expect the boat to remain afloat. You'd find the biggest holes and patch those to try to slow it down until you can figure out a permanent solution. No different here. Some action has to be taken. Doing something is much better than throwing your hands up and saying oh well.
