Source? Also, preventing extremist parents from coming over will prevent tgeir extremist children from having a foothold in the country from which they can plan and carry out attacks.

And what happens when their parents weren't extremists? You can't seriously believe the world is as simple as you're trying to make it.
It seems that no matter what group of people you hate, there is always an organization with a leader who advocates that killing these people is okay because they are sinners or infidels anyway. What needs to be banned is not guns or Muslims but the idea that killing those who you hate is okay.
How many right wing fundamentalist Preachers on Sunday morning preached that what those in that club got was the will of God. More than once politicians and preachers advocated praying for the death of the president , that should be banned.
It is also worth mentioning that your typical Radicalized American Muslim comes from a middle class or upper middle class family. IMO These are young people who spend their life in the US doing everything that is expected of them but as they open their eyes they see they are still not accepted by mainstream American society, so they take the path of what ever is the opposite of that. Most shooters are outsiders.

I think "muslim ban" is the wrong term to use and I also think your question approaches the issue from the wrong angle. The fact that so many of the recent attacks here and in Europe have been done by home grown terrorists just goes to show that even if the parents who immigrate here are not dangerous or do not participate in attacks themselves, the lack of assimilation from these communities create an environment where their children may become radicalized. The danger is multigenerational. This is another reason why taking in Islamic people in great numbers is dangerous for our country and culture. It is not a reason why increased immigration should be seen as safe and we should increase immigration and refugee programs from that region accordingly.
If Islam is ever going to be a positive influence on our society, they need to be integrated slowly and assimilated in to our own culture. Only then do we let in more in any significant numbers. They must become part of our communities and that is tough to accomplish when they come in great numbers and segregate themselves. This has been a problem with a lot of our immigration in recent years. Separate communities form that are largely self sustaining(and taxpayer sustained through social services) and they have no need to become part of the larger American culture. And unlike the ethnic enclaves of the past most of these communities share the same language and a similar culture which gives them even less reason to assimilate into the existing culture. In order to be sustainable, cross culture immigration must be done in moderation. There is nothing bigoted about recognizing that.
The temporary ban until we get our vetting act together doesn't impact American Muslims.
Did you read the OP? How is banning Muslims, temporarily or permanently going to prevent terrorist attacks when the last several Muslim rampages in the US were committed by Americans, not foreigners?
