But he's not a climate skeptic. We should take thousands of solo flights to take seminars to learn more about Global Warming and what we can all do to destroy the economy. Mother Earth automatically repairs any damage from massive carbon emissions when it's people who are going to discuss how to protect Mother Earth. On the other hand, a climate skeptic that rides a bike does irreparable damage to the ozone layer and Mother Earth if they breathe.
I thought it was obvious that he did this crap as a PR move.
I mean, he might really care about global warming a little, but he's rich. He doesn't need to practice what he preaches. He may as well run for president.
My biggest issue with him doing this is that it actually hurts his cause, which would be worse if he does give a damn about the environment (and optimistic me wants to believe he does and just isn't aware of his hypocrisy). People will see this and question global warming. They think the science can be discredited because those who talk about it aren't consistent in their views. Which is a shame. Same deal with those who are critical of big pharma and ag. Those who peddle drugs and GMO foods might not be good people, but this doesn't mean intense will cure your anal fissures or $12 carrots will prevent you from getting cancer. We have a problem with scientific literacy in this country, and it seems that DiCaprio is just another victim. While commercial jets are relatively fuel efficient, that fuel efficiency is lost when a private plane is transporting a handful of people.
