How many officers in Dallas had guns but were no match for the bad guy with a gun? In the end the police force had to use a robot bomb to take out the shooter.
This good guy with a gun was no match for a bad guy with a knife;
This homeowner had a gun and the intruder had a knife. The Homeowner AND the intruder are now both dead (of gun shot wounds) but not before the homeowner shot his own wife. Had the homeowner just handed over the contents of his safe everybody would probably still be alive. Is there any possesuusion worth dying for ??? The misconception that having a gun to protect yourself in your home automatically means you kill the intruder and everyone lives happily ever after is just that, a misconception.
Yes, prior to the Dallas protest, Dallas PD declared the protest area a gun-free zone.
You are confused about that. Imagine how confused you would be in an active shooting incident with everyone running with guns.

Rawlings said Dallas police Chief David Brown told him that people running through the shooting scene with rifles and body armor required officers to track them down and bring them to the police department. Whether that was time that could have been spent trying to find and stop the shooter is something police will have to comment on, Rawlings said.

He said Friday that about 20 people in "ammo gear and protective equipment and rifles slung over their shoulder" participated in the Black Lives Matter rally downtown on Thursday night.
"When the shooting started, at different angles, they started running," he said. "We started catching."
Then police interviewed them.
Rawlings said open carry brings confusion to a shooting scene.
"What I would do is look for the people with guns," he said.
Max Geron, a Dallas police major, talked about the confusion during the shooting in a post on a law enforcement website.
“There were much more protesters present at the scene than there were cops, so that’s another reason why I think they would have been the better option. But, as always, the police thought they knew best and were too stubborn to listen to anyone else. They had to go and declare the protest a gun-free zone, which ultimately meant they were setting up their people to be nothing more than sitting ducks for sniper wanna-bees.
