I think diversity in sports is a socioeconomic issue, not a racial issue. The most diverse sports tend to be those which are most readily accessible to the masses - basketball requires little space, especially three-on-three, and can be played for free outdoors and almost anywhere and at any time. Golf is an expensive sport which requires money and is largely seasonal in most climates. Even swimming is largely indoors with limited access hours.

You and I can say anything we want. The same goes for Obama. It's his decision to call himself black, but it does not change the fact that he is biracial. The more I think about it, he does look, talk and walk black.

They are watching the NBA, where 75% of players are black. Not much diversity there.

There are two black women on the American women's Olympic swimming team: Lia Neal and Simone Manuel. Both go to Stanford; one is from Brooklyn and the other is from Sugarland, Texas.

As long as they can swim, diversity or no diversity. Doesn't matter..

What if your team have to win in order to survive? Do you need a bunch of winners or you need every color under the sun?

Well blacks have denser bones. Which isn't a good trait to have when your swimming. And who cares. You need whoever is the best regardless of their race. Isn't that superficial/ illogical thinking? We need more black people on this team? Who even thinks that????

What's next? We need diversity in the winners to? More quotas!

Okay then here you go -

Nathan Adrian is Chinese

Now that we have clarified that our male swim team is diverse because it has a Chinese swimmer along with a black/native American swimmer then the OP and all others complaining about them having "no diversity" should be quiet and enjoy the Olympics.

Not true. Many whites have a very dense, heavy bone structure, while many African descendants have very small, slim bone structure.

This is why you will find numerous slim-built Afro-Caribbean people who swim extremely well.

Again, African peoples, for example, tend to come from warmer climates, where many of the nations have pretty beaches and other bodies of water. However, often these beaches are salty and it's hotter in the day, so people are less likely to spend hours swimming laps for a competition. Furthermore, to many of us who have nice beaches, pools smell nasty and are full of chemicals. Different environments and cultural preferences make a big difference. So while plenty can swim, there isn't as much interest in sports that involve pools..

Many people of all races understand the meaning of the term "bone density", and concepts like averages, trends and outliers... but some do not.
