For the first time in ten years, a hurricane has hit the continental United States. And for those who didn't know, "Superstorm" Sandy was not a hurricane, it was just a tropical storm, which is why the media invented the sensational term "Superstorm," so they could sensationalize and financially capitalize on that tragedy.
Hermine was moving inland over the eastern Florida Panhandle after coming ashore as a Category 1 hurricane at the state’s “Big Bend” early Friday morning. The National Hurricane Center said that, as of 5 a.m. EDT, the storm’s maximum sustained winds had decreased to just under 70 mph, with additional weakening forecast. The Hurricane Center said the hurrcane‘s eye came ashore just east of St. Marks, Florida, around 1:30 a.m. EDT with top sustained winds nearing 80 mph.
Of course we all remember back to the time of Hurricane Katrina and then Hurricane Ike. The AGW hystericalists were hyperventilating in wide eyed fashion about how that was just the beginning and that if we did not submit to huge tax increases and increased control of our economy by leftists around the globe, that devastation was sure to follow.
Bwahahaha.
As usual, the prediction models of the leftist funded shills posturing as scientific "experts" were spectacularly wrong and just the opposite happened. Not that all hurricane activity has ceased worldwide - it hasn't - but the activity has not been anywhere close to fulfilling the predictions of doom and disaster that these power-seeking propagandists promised.
So finally the hurricane drought in the mainland US is over. This category 1 storm petered out quickly, but it still hit land harder than tropical storm Sandy did. So much for the predictions of the AGW alarmists.
Hopefully it will be at least another decade before we see another one.

But, but, but, there is a consensus among them!
They can't even get YESTERDAY'S weather correct and some want us to believe them when they want to "predict" 5, 10, 15, 20 years from now.
But 99% of scientists have determined that global warming is the easiest way to get research dollars to provide job security for themselves...so it can't be wrong.

It's also an easy cause to be outraged about and show how concerned one is for that cause.
The Democrats, who love to talk about a cause, haven't been able to use the old standby, war and imperialism, since their party has embraced being war hawks.
Even the OWS crowd can't do much now that the ultimate Wall Street political insider is their POTUS nominee.
it is the first hurricane to hit Florida in about 10 years...
I do expect the major hurricane drought to end soon... and maybe even this year.
the waters along the north east coast are very warm. even this storm has the potential to get back out to sea and strengthen.
before the warmists jump in and pull their hair out and blame republicans for killing everybody, we have seen this before. the 1950s had very similar warm waters to the north east.
Your post needs many corrections. First, Sandy was a hurricane but because it was so far north in the Atlantic very late in the season, it lost much of its tropical appearance, but still slammed the area with hurricane forced winds, high storm surge, and torrential rains. It was not a tropical storm when it hit land. It was post-tropical. In other words, it was a strong cyclone. Second, Hermine struck Florida weaker than Sandy did. Third, hurricane climatology is partially a function of oscillations in sea surface temperature around the world and pressure anomalies. Right now, these anomalies suggest the Atlantic will have a lower than average hurricane count, however, these same anomalies mean hurricanes may be higher elsewhere in the world. At least you vaguely noted that. Lastly, it's normal for hurricanes to weaken over land. There are very few cases of tropical cyclones strengthening over land and the processes to enable it to strengthen are different than the processes that occur over water.
