I often hear people say "Hillary will destroy America!" One of the ways she will supposedly do this is by abolishing the Second Amendment. Could someone explain in detail how exactly she would go about doing that?

There is a Second Amendment? Never learned that in school.

This election is like being asked whether we prefer to bathe in battery acid or stand in front of a sand blaster for an hour.

Both will destroy America. The methodology is the only difference.

Her SCOTUS picks will be the biggest danger to the Second Amendment.

POTUS nominates.

Senate confirms.

A Democrat Majority confirmed Scalia back when.

A Republican Majority will confirm the next Justice , regardless of who is elected.

It would take a super majority of Congress to amend the Constitution and 38 states to ratify it. POTUS does not get a vote.

Nobody expects abolition of the amendment. Gun owners are rightly worried that she would nominate anti-gun justices who would continue the undermining and gradual erosion of their rights that is taking place in states across the nation. They (rightly) believe that attempts to ban, confiscate, restrict, tax or register firearms and ammunition are an infringement upon their right to bear arms.

How is the federal government going to confiscate guns? Also, how would a restriction on certain classes of firearms "destroy America"?

No its not. Trump is not the typical well mannered, pc politician. He is abrasive & focusing on issues head-on. I am willing to overlook his comments & banter because he is the only candidate who wants to focus on fixing domestic issues. I would love to help put others but only if my kids are well fed, my loans are paid off & i have extra time to spare. I am not going to ignore domestic issues & focus on international problems.

Hillary Clinton has repeatedly pointed at Australia as an example of "common sense" gun laws. Australia enacted a mandatory buyback for certain classes of firearms, with threats of arrests for those who didn't comply. When a government takes a gun away from a law abiding citizen, it is confiscation, even if they don't kick down your door and "compensate" you with your own tax dollars.

It would not destroy America, but it would be an infringement of an amendment which clearly states that it shall not be infringed.
