The establishment is crumbling everywhere... even in S Korea:

"The special investigation team concluded that based on the evidence secured to date, the president was in complicity with Choi Soon-sil, An Chong-bum and Jeong Ho-seong to a considerable degree," Lee told a news conference.

Jeong, also one of Park's former aides, was indicted for leaking classified information to Choi.
Park cannot be indicted because she has constitutional immunity, Lee said, but added: "We will continue to investigate the president," without elaborating.

Under the constitution, a sitting president cannot be indicted unless on charges of treason, but the conclusion by the prosecutors that Park was involved in the case prompted fresh calls from opposition parties for her to step down.

The main opposition Democratic Party and the centrist People's Party said Park will face impeachment proceedings if she refuses to resign. But they stopped short of saying they would immediately initiate such a move.

Park, a "good friend of Hillary Clinton" must have learned her lessons well.

This has sparked a full month of protests. They want her indicted.

Sound familiar?

Honestly, progressives better come to the realization that they are about to experience exactly what happened to the communists in the 30s.

Full circle, and completely rejected.

What are the progressives anyway but a progression to authoritarianism or communism?

Populist leaders never fulfill their huge promises.

Trump wants to cut $4 trillion in taxes on the one hand and then wants to ramp up spending on infrastructure and military on the other.

It doesnt add up

Of course it doesn't if your plan is the same ol Obama gdp growth. He says he can boost our local economy by creating jobs for people who in turn pay more taxes.

The man won the presidency dispite all odds against him. Too many videos of people claiming he will never _____ and laughing at the mere mention of his name. I think at this point, waiting and seeing what exactly he can do is the best option. Or you could continue to claim what he does is impossible. Your choice.

I actually hope he succeeds but Im not sure his plan is feasible.

We keep hearing about angry former industrial and factory workers in the Midwest being displaced for years, but what are they doing to improve their situation-just sitting around town waiting for a shuttered factory to reopen? Why not change careers? Why not go back for training?

But just sitting around waiting for Trump to save them, is ridiulous.

It may have been good for you, but it has sucked for much of the working class.

What jobs are they supposed to get retrained for? Where are they supposed to go to work at?

Why dont they go where jobs are located instead?

Sitting around waiting for a long gone industry to make a comeback? That's stupid.

Thank God people on the coast arent like that-we'd have no economy to speak of if coastalites did that.

So... you believe progressives add more to our economy than silly flyby backward people?

That is what you're saying, and that is exactly why the left are losing control.

The fact that you can say "Why not change careers? Why not go back for training?" seems more ridiculous to me.

Look at it from their side. To the blue collar class it's those people living in a bubble (coastalites) and their total disconnect that is the problem. You make it sound like "Changing careers and training" is something everyone can afford to do or has access to. It's not a logical way to view the problem, and certainly not anywhere near reality for them.

When a factory closes the workers are basically thrown to the curb along with their skill set. They are rarely offered retraining though I'm sure the ones who are take it gladly. The homes they bought tank because the rest of the town is unemployed and so does the RE market. So they are hit from both sides. Stuck in a place where there are no jobs and the home they worked all their lives to own has become a prison.

These people do not want to "sit around waiting for their jobs to come back" however, it is probably all they can do.

Calling millions of people "ridiculous" for a situation they didn't create is totally unfair especially when based on a misguided perception.

Progressive's haven't gone anywhere. Progressives simply had no one to vote for. The only genuine progressive who ran was Bernie Sanders and we all know what happened to him. The next best bet, in terms of policy and principle, would actually be Donald Trump, who's racially charged commentary and general lack of civility in how he speaks at people turned many progressives and young people off. Hillary Clinton IS NOT a progressive. She talks like she is, and she's willing to expand welfare and social programs (she said she'd do more than she originally planned because she knew millennials disliked her) but her foreign trade policy is explicitly anti-worker. No self respecting progressive who actually knows what they're talking about is anti-worker.

Bare in mind, a populist isn't actually a political position. It's a vague descriptor. A populist is anyone who is anti-elitist in some way; which happens to be a lot of progressives.

Do you mean like Teddy Roosevelt?

Keep in mind that the last time in US history that the "wealth gap" was so high was prior to TR taking office. When the elites and the establishment have been abusing the citizens for a protracted period, populists are installed to save the republic.

TR was the best friend the middle class ever had.
