Are you not happy that those who thought they were going to receive more Govt benefits from more income redistribution has died down? Folks who cried, "pay your fair share" couldn't even define fair share. My version, payment of taxes to cover my portion of govt expenses. I could even go for a base rate, and then an a la carte service for extra benefits I wanted...but the govt could never figure out to make that work. So I would be fine for everyone paying 15-20%, with a specific amount of income exempt for low wage earners. Looks like Trump is proposing 3 different rates, with different deduction amounts. None the less, I am just happy that we don't have to listen to the whiners asking for more money to pay for college tuition, pre-K education and the such. Is it too optimistic to balance the budget and stop having yearly deficits...
Fair share = flat income tax rate on all discretionary income (defined as income above the 20th percentile according to Consumer Expenditure Survey data) above poverty level.
Someone in another thread said flyover country just gave the West Coast a big tax cut while also losing their own health coverage. That's about how I see it. The wealth redistribution appears to be the middle of the country wanting a handout while the coasts are doing just fine. This election did serve to clarify that. So as some on the West Coast, thanks.
I expect to see plenty of tax cuts for the rich while the rest of us foot the bill, it is going to be an interesting four years.
