Justin Sullivan plotted to kill hundreds of people in North Carolina and Virginia on behalf of the Islamic State and wanted a silencer for a gun. So he had one built from a flashlight and delivered to the Morganton, N.C., house he shared with his parents. When his parents asked what he planned to do with it, he tried to have them killed. https://www.washingtonpost.com/local...=.8b7df5d549c2

Interesting read. Gets me to thinking. They don't say much about his personality much beyond his conversion to Islam via ISIS. Sounds almost like he could have gone into any other radical group as easy. One of those detached youth desperately wanting to be part of something. ISIS will take their weapons where they find them. If it happens to be a "converted" infidel so much the better.
It's way past time to stop playing pattycake with those clowns. If we're going to duke it out with them then lets get busy. Gotta hand it to the FBI on this kid. Singling out a lone wolf in the sea of intell on things out there, not bad. Kinda speaks to the level of government monitoring out there. The filters the NSA is using have to be seriously bad azz to pick this stuff out.
The internet sure isn't a safe haven to talk openly about such subjects as being a terrorist.

I agree, and also think the FBI has done a good job of thwarting several attacks here.
Wait a minute - that story's in the Washington Post, so it can't possibly be true. Did you guys forget that everything in the WaPo is false? I mean, you tell us that all the time.
He's a convert named Sullivan but his middle name is "Nojan", which is Persian or Kurdish, and he looks like he has Middle Eastern ancestry.
Looking into it more it seems the kid's background is complicated. His last name Sullivan comes from his step father, and his mother is Filipina. He first came to the attention of police when his step father called to say they were afraid of him because he was destroying Buddhist figurines in their house.

He has a serious problem and it has nothing to do with his ancestry or his middle name, but rather his beliefs and how he wants to profess them.
And we have a very nice public square to do it in.
