A group of high-profile liberals and establishment figures is moving swiftly to nip such a tussle in the bud by coalescing around Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison — who has not formally announced his bid, but who appears prepared to on Monday after receiving backing from Sanders, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, progressive groups like MoveOn.org, and kind words from Sen. Elizabeth Warren. But a former chairman, former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean — a Clinton backer and serious Sanders critic during the primary who is a favorite of state party chairs due to his pioneering a 50-state strategy that would empower them — also jumped into the race on Thursday, making the picture far less straightforward.
Really Dems? This whole election was basically a collective rebuke of identity politics. Ellison is a Muslim that aligned with some radical groups earlier in life, so I doubt Democrats will be winning back Rust Belt states with a choice like this. Democrats just don't get it...
He's a clueless cornball who will be an embarrassment to Blacks and Muslims. His backward "progressive" agenda keeps us all down--and jobless.
An Ellison election as DNC Chair will keep the Republican Party winning elections throughout his tenure. Many Americans have very real concerns about radical Islamic terrorism, and this intentional snub to those people is all the GOTV the Republican Party needs.
This guy has advocated for reparations for slavery. That'll surely bring all those Trump voters over to the Democrat camp in the next election. Or so they think. It'll instead turn a whole lot of Dems into Republicans. The far left apparently has no idea just how much the non-black communities bristle at the very thought of it.
