Look at the two states they reside in. Both states are full of retired, autocratic baby-boomers, that have been programmed from the time they were born to trust and obey the government, and remain blindly patriotic at all costs.
Throughout most of their lives, they've been trained to accept all mainstream news sources, including large metropolitan newspapers and national TV news networks as portrayers of goodwill and honesty.
Many of them don't even like or use the internet at all. They're stuck in a time warp that they can not deprogram from. I would expect nothing less from them to support scare-monger, authoritarian figures like MCcain and Graham and fully believe the Russians are coming to get us.
