Trump from the first has strung together various proposals seemingly without grasping that the implementation of one will impact the other. And sometimes not for the best. My big concern is that funding for the wall will come from money allocated to Homeland Security and restrict the Department's ability to counter terrorism. A fiscal-conservative like Congressman Leopard (R. Idaho) pretty much said that the other day - let Homeland Security fund it.

Quote:
President Donald Trump's plan to build a wall on the border with Mexico is facing a major problem: A wall of resistance from his own party, threatening to derail his central campaign promise.

A growing number of congressional Republicans are objecting to the cost and viability of a proposal that was a rallying cry for the billionaire businessman during his insurgent campaign. Interviews with more than a dozen GOP lawmakers across the ideological spectrum suggest Trump could have a difficult time getting funding for his plan approved by Congress.

Many bluntly told CNN they'd likely vote against any Trump plan that is not fully offset with spending cuts, while others questioned whether Trump's vision would adequately resolve the problems at the border.

It's a bad idea, that's why it will fail even with a republican congress. It's very hard to sell 'stupid.' Other than to Trump-holes who fell for stupid, hook line and sinker.

Yet Hillary was elected in the primary? Always good to see the lack of points to back up the vapid claim.

You lost, get over it.

Good, it highlights who needs to be voted out in the next elections.

And Trump is still an idiot prone to conspiracy theories and Santa Claus-sized promises. Get over it.

Good to see that the reality of governing is sinking into to some GOP members of Congress. I applaud them for being realistic, practical and sensible.

I don't support the wall as wasteful but if we could defund homeland security to pay for it, I'd be OK with that.

The Republicans know it will take a big tax increase to build a wall and they don't want to do that.
