What news conference were you watching? From your description, you certainly weren't watching the master liar/bloviator/mentally ill president in his "news conference" rant.
Some day historians will look back at the America of today in regard to the election, his gutless enablers in Congress & his supporters & say, "What were they thinking?"
Similarly we already look back at the rise of fascism in Europe in the 1930's and think the same thing.
It really was a dumpster fire.
