This week, liberals savagely mocked Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson for allegedly comparing slaves to immigrants. It looks like they’ve completely forgotten about all the times Barack Obama did the exact same thing.
While speaking to a group of employees at his department on Monday, Carson said: “There were other immigrants who came in the bottom of slave ships, who worked even longer, even harder, for less, but they too had a dream that one day their sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters, great grandsons, great granddaughters might pursue prosperity and happiness in this land.”
1. In a speech at a naturalization ceremony in 2012, then-President Obama said this about slave ships:
We say it so often, we sometimes forget what it means — we are a nation of immigrants. Unless you are one of the first Americans, a Native American, we are all descended from folks who came from someplace else — whether they arrived on the Mayflower or on a slave ship, whether they came through Ellis Island or crossed the Rio Grande.
2. At A DNC Event on April 28, 2011
Obama had this to say while addressing a crowd at an event hosted by the Democratic National Committee on April 28:
I want a confident America where, yes, everybody makes sacrifices, but nobody bears all the burden, and we live up to the idea that no matter who we are, no matter what we look like, no matter whether our ancestors landed on Ellis Island or came here on a slave ship or crossed the Rio Grande, we are all connected to one another. We rise and fall together.
Carson used the words immigrants and slave in the same sentence, describing as both immigrants and slaves. I think he didn't worded what he meant in the best way, but he clearly didn't say what the left is accusing him of.
I think many on the left/the dems/the media don't even know what they are outraged/mad about anymore they are so unhinged. Like pavlov's dog experiments, they just react to the simplest stimuli and go off the deep end on it.
All this perpetual striking out/rage because of a lost election/power lost. Who would have guessed they'd be so unhinged.

Obama said the same thing:
Quote:
Certainly it wasn’t easy for those of African heritage who had not come here voluntarily, and yet in their own way were immigrants themselves. There was discrimination and hardship and poverty. But, like you, they no doubt found inspiration in all those who had come before them. And they were able to muster faith that, here in America, they might build a better life and give their children something more."
African Heritage who had not come here voluntarily = SLAVES and he used immigrants in the same sentence.
Carson screwed up because his message implied that slaves CAME here looking for a better life.
Words matter.
Yes. Slaves immigrated here. But, they did not do it willingly and to make better lives for themselves.
THAT was what was wrong with what Carson said.
If he'd said "we're all from someplace else and we all want a bright future for ourselves and our families," nobody would be shaking their head right now.
He has a long history of saying awkward stuff.

No, that is your spin. He said no such thing. All that he said is that the slaves still had dreams of a better life for their children, AND HE WAS CORRECT:
“There were other immigrants who came in the bottom of slave ships, who worked even longer, even harder, for less, but they too had a dream that one day their sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters, great-grandsons, great granddaughters might pursue prosperity and happiness in this land,” Carson added.
Props to the man for paying tribute to the perseverance and suffering of his ancestors. Respect for recognizing that hope saw them through.
