Last month, the IRS announced that a record amount of income taxes were collected. This week it was announced that not only was a record amount of $540 billion real estate taxes collected but also a record amount of $374 billion of sales taxes [not including taxes on alcohol and tobacco]
Now I know where my county is getting all the money to spend $12 million to pave over rail road tracks for joggers, $25 million to create a rowing lake and millions of dollars being spent on converting dozens of perfectly operating intersections to roundabouts. My tax dollars at work.
