Amazing how the secret tonic is always Republican leadership.

How any person who is not a Hollywood liberal could vote for Democrats this sham of a country is beyond me.

21% of nation's population in California homeless on any given night in 2016 under Democrats and Jerry Brown

1% in bordering Republican governor Nevada and Arizona

The rate is as low as 0.16% in Wyoming, 0.17% in North Dakota and 0.25% in West Virginia.

Odd how in Democratic California 21% of the nation's homeless go to sleep unhoused as opposed to fraction of a percent in these other states.

That's what happens when you have more houses than people who want to live in them.

Whatever you're smoking, I'd like some! So there are 10 million homeless people in California?

The two worst states by percentage of homeless by far were CA and NY at 21.48% and 15.7% respectively. No other state even came close to double digits.

I agree. It is a stupid comparison, and whether they are red or blue states has nothing to do with it. My state has a low homeless rate, and we are one of the poorest states in the US. It would make sense that there would be more homeless people in wealthy states where the cost of living is very high.

Where are you getting those figures? The link states California has a homeless rate of 302 per 100,000 people.

It's 21% of all homeless people in the nation live in California, not 21% of CA's population. I can tell you one factor why I think a lot are there, regardless of politics: the weather. It's a whole lot nicer in many parts of CA on a winter's night vs. Wyoming.

Plus...you have to look into the map presented better. So many people are homeless in CA because so many of the US's population lives there overall..... 12%. Wyoming is the least populated state, so it would be surprising if it didn't have the lowest % of all homeless in the US.

21% of people in CA aren't homeless. Looks like you messed up that math.

The real number is that 21% of the homeless in the USA are in CA. Much of the reason is due to the high number of people in CA compared to other states.

There are 118,000 homeless in CA.CA has 36 million residents.

Fewer than .0032% of CA residents are homeless. That's fewer, percentage wise, than WY.
