I might agree with you, except for the fact that, including the Internet, there are news outlets representing every conceivable point of view in the US, and doing so without fear of government reprisal. I doubt that is true in Russia.

What are you talking about?

Russians can watch CNN, FOX, BBC, Euronews, Sky, Taggesschau, Viasat, France 24, etc. They probably have better access to world news than most Americans. Vast majority of Americans are limited to CNN, CBS, ABC, FOX, MSNBC, NBC, etc. All pretty much the same on most issues.

And I can probably watch all of those outlets right now on this computer.

Sure.

I'm talking what is available on satellite or cable. They aren't living behind the Iron Curtain anymore.

And Americans aren't living behind any Iron Curtains, either. So logically, Americans have as much if not more access to a vast variety of news sources as Russians.

Urgent (which was posted to the left) propaganda.

People can hate on the so-called MSM all they like, but the fact is, there are many alternative voices in the US, and they operate without government interference. I'm pretty sure that is not the case in Russia.
What strange times we live in, with some folks on the right praising Russia for its "free" press, while they lambaste our own media for being too biased.
Sometimes I wonder when I will wake up, because this has to be some kind of weird dream.
^^^agree. There is no free press in Russia. Speaking out against Putin (yes it's wikipedia but
scroll down to Putin):

I stopped watching it after she said "Who's role is it to investigate conflicting information? Who?
Certainly not the members of the UN Security Council - their job is politics..." The UNSC, under the
United Nations Charter, is to maintain international peace and security."

This whole conversation is just surreal. I remember when I was in college, and in my 20s, anytime I said anything at all that was remotely "pro-Russia," even if it was as simple as saying that the arms race was insanity, or that I didn't think the Russian people wanted war any more than we do, I was called un-American, a Communist, and any number of other lovely things that I probably can't say here.

Now? Now we have people, presumably on the right, drooling over how "free" the Russian media is, and openly admiring Putin as a "strong" leader (although that may be coming to an end, now that he and their beloved Donald seem to be on the rocks), and accusing those on the left of being warmongers. Yet the minute someone speaks up for universal health care, those same folks come out of the woodwork and say, "You want Socialism? Move to Russia."

I don't get it. I don't get it at all.

" Do you trust Russian media over USA MEDIA anyday? "

Oh hell no. When it comes to propaganda, the Russians are number one. I don't trust ours either, but Russia? Come on.
