Here we go again with marijuana as a gateway drug. That is nonsense. The majority of people that use pot do not progress any further than that. Pot is not addictive.

Why you ask? That is their business. If they are not harming you then there isn't a problem.

It's a global millennial epidemic right now. It's happening around the world. When doctors started prescribing oxy they didn't realize how addiction it was. Even though they've realized the mistake, it's a little late. It's just another over prescribed pill.

Treatment programs are much harder to come by then another prescription. It's a sad issue. I've lost several friends and a family members to this new addiction. It's really easy to hide.

This ^ is a good article, and pretty much explains the problem.

They have no idea the source or composistion of pills which most definitely is not limited to Big Pharma. A remote labs can create pills to look like legit pharmecutical companies.

Heroin is substantially cheaper than pills. Many smoke it. Injection is an addiction unto itself.

Rehabs do not cure addiction. In most cases, it's the pause that refreshes. The craving has been described to me as the same as taking your next breath. Once discharged, the addict is often at their most vulnerable to OD because their tolerance has declined.

The rehab experience tends to be a revolving door for many.
That is only because what services we do provide for rehab suck and are hardly helpful. Europe does a MUCH better job at this and thus has a far higher success rate. Also, they have politicians that actually give a damn and will put helping people above making big bucks.

That is a complete myth. Marijuana is NOT a gateway drug by any means:
Marijuana Is Not, Repeat Not, a Gateway Drug

As for your "why does anyone feel the need to alter their state with substances", ask anyone why they drink alcohol. In moderation it can offer a fun pleasant experience. Marijuana is the same. It's just the hard synthetic drugs that are the real problems.

I did not say "most of the ODs are middle aged," so whose statement are you disputing?

The peaking suicide rate of white, middle-aged people, particularly men, is probably fueling the peaking drug abuse in that group as well.
