Independence Day this year has a meaning that goes far beyond the usual fireworks and grill-outs and a day off work.
In 2017, America is under attack. Not from Sharia Law advocates or ISIS terrorists or Mexican illegal immigrants or a North Korean megalomaniac; this year, we are under assail from our very own Administration. In a mere 6 months President Donald Trump has declared war on almost every institution that we as Americans hold dear to our hearts; he has tried to undermine our ability to speak freely and dissent openly; tried to destroy our faith in our election system; and he has tried hardest to damage the free press, referring to American journalists as “dishonest,” “disgusting” and “scum.”
This is a year where every citizen will have to make a decision. You will have to decide whether you truly value the freedoms that we fought for 241 years ago, or whether you want go back under the thumb of a King. By the time we get through 2017, very few will remain standing on the fence, whether we like it or not events will push us to make a choice.
Democracies are fragile. Many seem to prefer the apparent safety of having a strong authoritarian government, given that 40% of the population seems to agree with Trump's neo-fascist tactics. One thing is for sure. The next few years are not going to be boring.
I'm celebrating my independence from all left wing hysterical moronic idiot jackasses. After years of their socialistic steal everything you can and destroy the man activities, I thumb my nose at them with a healthy 'up yours, twinkie' tossed in for good measure. That they deplore my actions only helps me even more to bask in the glow of freedom. God bless America! Except SJWs, screw SJWs.

Waiting for the inevitable fake news comment, lol.
I am flying the flag and will watch fireworks as usual but this 4th has a hollow feeling. Our government has been hijacked and could turn fascist. People like to stick their heads in the sand and say that it can't happen here in the USA.
Neither political party has the qualified people to lead us right now. Not the Dems, not the Repubs. Until someone from either party who has the knowledge and ability to get this country back on track appears, we are lost.
Grill up and be jubilant that we live in such a wonderful country! The system worked on Nov 8th just how the Founding Fathers envisioned it. If anyone has an issue with the way things are now, maybe they will come out and vote in the future. In the meantime, those who are dissatisfied with the current situation can continue on working to fix their party that is currently in shambles.

I don't know who you are speaking on behalf of ? Yourself or Americans like yourself.
I and many others I speak with don't hold the snake dear to our hearts. These institution are corrupt and self-serving. They make decisions and take actions according to personal politics and self-interest. They are failing to serve the public without bias.

I other words he told the truth and gave voice to what many Americans without a voice have been thinking and saying but didn't have the attention or ear of those in power.

The choice was made already on 8 Nov. 2016. Trump is President and everting is now in capable hands. ( small if you must)
The freedom fought for wasn't to have our solverenty given away by liberals that want to be globalist.
The dispute on globablist vs isolationist was settled long ago. We have to participate in the bigger world out there to be competitive. You just can't go back in time--there's the internet, international travel, etc. We are no longer in the 19th century.
