Friends, I am sincerely looking for serious thoughtful dialogue about this question: How is the continued behavior of Donald Trump acceptable to loyal Republicans? As many know, I am a liberal Democrat but I try to respect and learn from others' views. So knowing that, I would like to hear from Republicans as to why (if it is acceptable to them) things like threatening people on Twitter, suggesting that the Constitution be changed, and the many other issues that have come up are acceptable to people who truly love this country, as I do, and are loyal to the Republican platform. Further, I want to hear from Republicans who are not on board with these antics and what you think can be done to stop them.
Please let's try not to get into name calling or insults - I truly want to know your thoughts. Thanks in advance.
They hate liberals more than they love democracy, or America. That is how it is acceptable. A portion of our country has plunged into political nihilism and it is terrifying.
I am not a Republican but I have no idea what you are talking about. Trump has done everything he said he would do (or is trying). He is also bringing many jobs and deals to the US.

It is not acceptable to loyal Republicans. More than anything else it is a puzzling embarrassment.
It is only acceptable to the new Trumplican-Republicans, who will abandon the party as soon as their old fart is removed from office.

Really? No idea? Are you following Trump's tweets and the current controversies? The concerns over his lack of regard for White House protocol? Seriously? He has NOT done everything he said, and in fact has reversed himself on issues which has caused some of his loyal followers to reject him.
And as for the jobs he supposedly is bringing to the US, corrections have been made by the companies he said he did this with. They confirm that he in fact had nothing to do with the jobs they are adding.
More to the point: I am asking Republicans to respond and help me understand their positions.

On this forum, that should last about 30 seconds.
Ok, here is my take on it. Politicians are more concerned about keeping their jobs than fighting for you and me. It is the only job they know, and keeping it depends on keeping your mouth shut, not making waves, and sticking to the party story.
OCCASIONALLY, you find a politician who has the intestinal fortitude and integrity to go against the grain and say " I was put here to do right by my constituents, and I will not accept this, regardless of what it does to me personally." But those guys are rare and far between.
I bet most politicians go to Washington with stars in their eyes and dreams of making America better. But, once they get there, the good old boys give them the talk and make them realize it ain't gonna happen. Sad, but very true, I feel.
Most of you are just dealing in the here and now. Other presidents Lincoln and Jackson just to name a couple have twisted the law and the constitution much more than Trump has.How is it possible? He was elected. The ground swell of dissatisfaction and our checks and balance system will more than be enough to hold in check any serious damage he could do.

I don't doubt you are correct regarding the allegiance of Trump supporters to the party. The real question is, where are all of those loyal Republicans, and why aren't they speaking out and holding their party accountable?
I suspect the answer to that question is this:

You really really really really can not mean what you just typed. How are you able to not see the turmoil and chaos he has created and the multitude of simply dumb actions he has taken ? I can not see any human on this planet oblivious to what the last 100+ days have been like.......never before has a mess like this happened so soon and so dramatically.
