For infant mortality the higher rates in the black community encompass all income levels. Not going to look for it but you should be able to find the information on the CDC website.

Families that have recently immigrated from Nigeria are very different from American blacks who've been in the USA pretty much from the beginning. As far as eating habits go, most black and white Americans are pretty similar.

But since you mention Texas, I do think that the sparse population density of the USA plays a role in worse health outcomes than other developed countries. It's a huge country, and even though Canada is also geographically large, the vast majority of Canadians live within 100 miles of the border. So it's probably much easier for them to get to a hospital in time than for someone in the middle of, say, rural North Dakota.
Black Americans are the most obese group in the United States. 57% of Black women are obese compared to 33% of White women. While neither stats are good, to say that Black eating habits are similar to Whites is blatantly false.

Canada's diversity is comparable to the US. But it's kinda funny how minorities in Canada receive better healthcare and enjoy better maternity care and benefits than whites in the US who often don't get any healthcare at all. Even when they are 'covered' by private insurance, Americans often can't afford to use it due to their ridiculous high deductible. God forbid you have some kind of pre-existing condition such as pregnancy, rape, acne, etc.

My Mother was an OB nurse, despite the free care and programs available many times the first time some low income people would see the doctor was in the birthing sweet. She used to give birthing classes and said many of them wouldn't be paying attention, would only show up once etc...

Immigrants from poor countries often can't believe healthcare could be free.

Just like most Americans can't believe it.

Focus on Infants in Childbirth Leaves US Moms in Danger
Ok.
Subtract all the folks running across the border who don't bother getting prenatal care for any of their pregnancies.

Now recalculate.

Really?

What percentage of Canadians are black or Hispanic, and how does that compare to the US?

I don't think you have ever been to Canada, or even outside the US. Try getting out more. Toronto the largest city in Canada for example has 50% non-white population. The major cities and metro areas where most Canadians live are extremely diverse. Canada overall is a very diverse society.

Regardless, their minorities have better access to healthcare than white Americans who often do not.

I watched some of this documentary on the problem:

Watch our documentary about the staggering rate of maternal mortality for black women | Fusion

The claim made in the description, and by the interviewed "Black Momas Matter" group that it's due to "racism" is not logically supported at all, but the video does reveal some of the important reasons why America has a much higher maternal death rate than other rich countries. Highlighted is a subgroup of obese, low-IQ women who are dependant on others to make responsible choices for them, living in rural areas where services are sparse.
