I guess you are all too young to have knee issues, that wasn't a curtsey. He was bent over to have that medal put around his neck and my guess is his knee gave way.
He was being presented with a chain. Looks more like an awkward attempt not to full out bow like Obama did. He probably should have better prepared himself for this situation. Probably just winged it, like he does with everything.
