Just do it, NY!!!!! Show us the way to prosperity for everyone.
----------------------
The single-payer health care plan that cleared the lower chamber of New York's state legislature on Tuesday would require massive tax increases to double—or possibly even quadruple—the state's current annual revenue levels.

The state Assembly voted 87-38 on Tuesday night to pass the New York Health Plan, which would abolish private insurance plans in the state and provide all New Yorkers (except those enrolled in Medicaid and Medicare) with health insurance through the state government. The same proposal cleared the state Assembly in 2015 and 2016, but never received a vote from the state Senate.

Wonder what the cost is vs the cost of the current system.

IE If Fred pays 1000 a month to Blue Cross (net after taxes) vs 1000 tax it is a wash to Fred.

Small detail. It will attract every sick unemployable person to NY. People will move to NY when sick and to a social darwin state when healthy.

Even if New Yorkers benefit from an expected reduction of $44 billion in health spending, which Friedman says would be the result of less fraud and less administrative overhead, the tax increases would cancel out those gains.

So what? They are benefited by everyone being covered AND it will also cancel out the premiums people are paying now.

"Reason" magazine is a well known libertarian propaganda outlet, bankrolled by the Koch brothers and other pro-business interest groups. Obviously they are going to have a negative spin on any kind of single-payer health plan.

I may just reside in NY for five years until I reach 65. Won't work. Income will be fairly low.

Exactly. Of course my answer is national basic health insurance with robust deductibles and copays and yours is... shall we say just a bit different.

Well then, find a link to a site that tells us how inexpensive this single payer health care plan will be, and how many billions in new taxes it will take to implement.

Ok:

http://www.crainsnewyork.com/article...alth-care-bill

According to the article, the bill is unlikely to pass the state senate anyway, so it's a bunch of hullabaloo about nothing.

Reason is libertarian, not pro business. There is a huge difference.
