Spicer is one of the few Catholics in the WH. Normally, when Presidents have a papal audience, they will include top level WH staff who are Catholic.

But Kushner wanted to be included, so Spicer wasn't.

It is a huge deal for a Catholic to meet the Pope and it would have been common courtesy for trump to include Spicer.

Guess that's why you don't hear much about trump's "common courtesy."

I actually feel kind of bad for him on this.

I'm a lapsed Catholic but I would jump at the chance to meet Pope Francis

Trump is a very petty man and does not respect religion. I feel bad for Spicey.

I sympathize, but it does say something about the pecking order and how his job is viewed.

Petty, small and vindictive move by a small petty and vindictive man. Spicer is a good guy and a lifelong catholic who deserved much better by the clown he tries to defend and clean up on a daily basis.

Crap move.

Poor Spicey. That's a really crappy way to be treated after all he's done to cover for Trump. Isn't Spicer the only Catholic amongst that lot?

I think it's hilarious. Take body shots for your boss then get left in the car when it's time to meet your idol. Little guy must be quivering in the fetal position weeping.

Don't work for petty people...

Like one of the pundits said today on TV, the job that Spicer does has very few perks and lots of long hours. It was a purposeful and punishing slight not to include him in the papal visit since he is supposedly a devote and practicing Catholic. Trump did include his social medic director and his x-body guard surely one or both of them didn't need to be there. Neither did Ivanka and her husband.

I feel really bad for him. Why did two Jewish people go and make a Catholic sit it out? Rude.

Which is typical for Ivanka and Jared, really.
