It's not even a record low. April 2016, he was at 28.8%.
Setting aside most of this nonsense, of course it matters.

If he were popular, he'd have more influence over congress. As it is, he's so widely disliked that they really see no reason to go along with him. Being on Team Trump is a liability to a congressman who'd like to get reelected in 2018.

At least we have the final proof that Republicans are anti-American and authoritarian. I think his approval rating with them is over 70%.

Independents tell the tale - they often lean right, but Trump is polling at 33% among them. I think any fair minded observer would say that's the real number to look at.

GW Bush proved that up to 30% of this country is so authoritarian that even the largest Recession in a Century, endless wars and other policies which will take decades to rebound from....isn't enough to make them change their minds.

To put it in Trumps terms - he could step out in the street and kill a person and 25% of the country would still love him. He could kill millions of Americans (with poor health care) and 25% would still love him.

It's a sad commentary on the lack of education in this country. I've always thought we were a couple percentage points away from fascism and it turned out to be true.

But - in the end - I have to say it's not the fault of those 25% - they cannot help themselves. It's the fault of all the people who don't vote.

Default Rasmussen Poll: Trump at 38% approval

Daily Presidential Tracking Poll - Rasmussen Reports™

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 38% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Sixty-two percent (62%) disapprove.

The latest figures for Trump include 25% who Strongly Approve of the way Trump is performing and 50% who Strongly Disapprove. This gives him a Presidential Approval Index rating of -25.

And before all the Trump trolls cry fake polls and no one takes them seriously, this is a right wing poll that Trump himself praised a few weeks ago for approaching 50% approval. So if it's good enough for Trump, obviously this is a valid statistic and it's not looking good. Only 25% now have strong approval, which is basically his Cult.

Trump will probably never dip below 30%. 30% of those polled will forever be delusional, thinking Trump is saving America.

UNLESS Trump does let Obamacare fail, which would mean that MILLIONS of Trump voters would lose their health coverage. Then his polls might dip below 30% as some of his base turns on him.

Wow, I just read this morning that 42% of registered voters polled had a negative view of Trump (I think it might have been Gallup?). The fact that Rasmussen is even lower is kind of shocking.

38%, down from 39% last week.

Republicans in congress monitor this poll. You see them gradually breaking away from Trump and criticizing him more and more as his poll number decrease.

The tax reform bill will be discussed soon and he'll likely make more attempts to throw the Republicans under the bus. Trump will push for tax cuts for billionaires which will increase the debt. Conservative Republicans that don't want to increase the debt won't want debt increases.

Word is out that they want to add new import taxes to pay for the billionaires' tax cuts. In other words, add new taxes to products that all Americans purchase - so we pay extra taxes so the billionaires get lower income tax rates. This is, essentially, reducing taxes on the rich and increasing taxes on the middle class. The Moderate Republicans in congress won't support this but the conversative Republicans in congress will support it along with Trump.

This will cause another stale-mate between the Republicans in congress just like healthcare did. Trump will gradually throw more Republican Senators and US Reps under the bus.

And Trump's approval ratings will drop farther when regular everyday Americans see that he's trying to increase our taxes by adding heftly import taxes to things that we buy. So the rich get richer and the middle class gets to pay new import taxes.
