Id say let em defend themselves. If we are offering them defense, they have no right to say what kind. Maybe we can put that money towards the United States infrastructure.
The real story is that the Chinese put sanctions on S.K. because they don't want the missile system in S.K. because it has radars that can pick up activity in China and they see that as a threat to them. So they are being punished economically by China.
Yet they can't seem to pressure N.K. in the same way ? In the end we are on a collision course with N.K. and China.

Wish Trump recognized the threat China represents. Good thing some of his advisors do.
Who would have to make the decision to pull out the troops? Could Trump alone do it, or would it take an act of congress?
I'd bet the South Koreans would do some serious crawdadding about the missiles if the US started talking pullout.

Why would China want to pressure North Korea? By keeping things stirred up, we pour more time, energy and money into it. That's a win for China, they are not our friend. Not saying we shouldn't try and get along, but let's play smart.
What worries China is, actually the monitoring abilities of such defensive systems installed so close to their proximity. Means a very powerful radar outside your doorstep that will get United States the earliest warnings in case of a Chinese missile launch (hypothesis).
Nothing is going to protect S Korea, even a nuclear artillery cannon might do the job of flattening Seoul.
All these said, Not sure why P.R China is worrying, Oh wait, maybe they are not worrying, but like some annoying posters, they like to bark for the sake of barking because barking at America is what they do.
China’s own partner - Russia, of all countries - agreed to sell the highly potent S-300 and S-400 system to Vietnam, and unlike THAAD, those systems are capable of not only tracking numerous targets on their radar but also can be used to shoot down aircraft, drones and missiles.
No one recognizes China as a "Leader" what a laughable statement! China does not have a control over North Korea’s provocation or the instability of the regime, or they are not exerting that control for political reasons.
China is not offering real alternatives to THAAD. They are just annoyed by how powerful it is.
Deep down, no one is really worrying.
If you want to talk about history, well,
1) China supported North Korea, along with Soviet Union to invade South Korea to start Korean War.
2) Korea would have been unified without Kim hadn’t PLA invaded Korea.
3) North Korea has been threatening with ballistic missiles and not artillery missiles. THAAD is a defense against those threats.
Current government of China is very different from the one in 1950s, and South Korea has built a rapport with China since then. S.K does not want to lose China as the biggest expert market. But the situation is complicated. I don't think anybody are interested in a war. It is all about power and balance, politics.
