Still, their numbers are tiny in relation to the mainstream political left. And, say experts, it's misleading for right-wing groups to suggest that the Antifa are more violent than right-wing extremists.
"The far left is very active in the United States, but it hasn't been particularly violent for some time," says Mark Pitcavage, a senior research fellow at the Anti-Defamation League's Center on Extremism.

I still say the majority of people on the right, left and in between are non-violent, though perhaps antagonistic. My point in posting this article is to show that perceptions during times of high stress and emotion can be incorrect.
No doubt, there are some criminals among the "resisters" and they're acting out in violent ways. My hope is that they end up paying the price of their actions. Fines and incarceration are in order for the worst of them.

I couldn't agree more. We don't need or want these types of people on "our" side.
Oh boy! I sense an attack on the source and a "fake news" claim any moment now!
""In the past 10 years when you look at murders committed by domestic extremists in the United States of all types, right-wing extremists are responsible for about 74 percent of those murders," Pitcavage says."

It's definitely getting worse. Google Redneck Revolt. And here's a short article on the rise of left-wing extremism
Do we start to worry now or when they have achieved the same level of violence as the "hard right"?
Both sides should be denouncing this violent behavior, not pointing fingers. But, the failure of the right to crack down on their own may be leading to the same from the left.
Seems both sides should never tolerate this from their own, but absent THAT, expect it to get worse.

Bad news makes for more dramatic headlines than good news.
All political violence needs to halted before it gets out of control. Rhetoric of war and violence is nt limited to one side. GOP Mark Sanford said Trump shares blame for "unleashing" demons. Leftist groups are a reaction to rightists groups.
Perhaps it is time for adults to act like adults and cool the rhetoric. It should start here in this forum.

Far too many folks take politics way too seriously.
Look at it as entertainment and that perspective will improve one's outlook on life.
I think one of the big differences is where the violence takes place. Left-wing violence seems far more concentrated in urban areas and college towns and right-wing violence in suburban, ex-urb, and rural areas.
I think the left-wing violence is getting more notice because it also tends to be mob violence rather than individual attacks like all the acts of right-wing violence listed in the article. Mob violence implies an organized concerted effort with structure, where as individual attacks do not. (Even though there are plenty of organized violent groups in the far-right, and they might facilitate the violent individual attacks.)
Lone actors, even ones who kill large numbers of people, do not feel like a movement to take over society and government. Mob violence does, and that is why it gets attention and people fear it.
