No, actually several posters did imply that it was my duty to train my kids to be around guns. That being said, you live in a whole lot of fear. I don't live that way and I don't teach my kids to live fearful either.
No. You little gun haters like to say that, but here's what is actually going on: I live in reality. You live in make believe land that nothing will ever happen to you. If nothing does, you're lucky. The reality is that if something happens to either one of us, my chances of survival are far better than yours because you choose to pretend criminals don't exist.
You not teaching your kids reality is how we end up with Ottos of the world traveling to North Korea. You just made my point for me from that thread. Good job.
No one said that YOU, personally, have to teach your kids to be around guns. IF you choose to have guns in the home, then you're an idiot if you don't teach them how to be around guns. If you don't want to have guns in the home, then you can all walk around with a big ol' target on your back. Do one step better to show you have no fear: Put up a sign in your front yard that says you're against the 2nd Amendment. Make sure it's very readable from the street.
I would also like you to remove all seat belts from your car. Remove all smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors from your home. Remove your front door, you only need a screen to keep the bugs out. Same goes for your back door...you don't need it. If you have a fence, go ahead and rip that down. It's not needed.
Feel free to pretend not to understand why I said that.
Started hunting rabbits at age 8. By 9 I was hunting rabbits, cleaning them and bringing them home for supper. My six year old grandson, loves to shoot bb guns at cub scout camp. My 12 year old grandson loves shooting rifles at boy scout camp. My 8 year old granddaughter wants a pink Cricket 22. They all know that they do not touch a gun unless grandma or papa lets them. They have discipline. The problem with the kids who get hurt is that they have no gun training and have been raised as snowflakes.
i grew up in a home with loaded, unlocked guns. and i knew exactly where they were [in my dad's sock drawer - it was not a secret].
he told us kids in no uncertain terms to never, ever touch them without his permission, and we never did. but if we asked, he was more than happy to take them out and go shooting with us.
Yeah back when parents were parents.
I didn't turn out like the over sensitive spoiled special brats of my generation or doped up on Ritalin so mom and dad could have peace and quiet that comes from video games and zombies for kids.
Half these dinks that have kids can't take care of a dog... let alone manage their finances and personal life. Too worried what everyone else is doing LOL

but would you vote for safer gun laws - to match your own safety concerns?
What are "safer gun laws"? Why not ask why they don't enforce the laws on the books. Out of every 80,000 who lied on the 4473 (background check) a felony, they prosecute an average of 4.
What would be a safer gun law?

It's your duty as a parent yo teach them about EVERYTHING in regards to their safety. How to handle firearms is a small sliver of it. What you don't know, you outsource to others to teach.
That does not mean they have to become gun experts, but knowledge about anything is just good preparation and that is your duty as a parent. Preparation for whatever comes.

Nope. There already are laws on the books. What needs to happen is the streamlining in how the ATF is conducted. Like compare the USPS to UPS or FedEx... or how Florida's DMV is compared to NYS DMV...
But instead of sticking to what it's intended purpose was... bureaucracy had expanded thus today is known as the BATFE.
Look at Florida's laws. Go on, flash your piece because you're in an argument with someone. Watch what happens.
I say. Repeal the NFA in its entirety. Get the Supreme Court stacked. Reinterpret the 2A so that it may NEVER fall under attack ever again and pass out happy pills to further alter anti gun lobbyists and their supporters reality of utopia.
