Got it.
Disclaimer: this post doesn't relate to Trump's current investigation.

1) "Just let Russia interfere?": I don't think there is much to do in the age of hucking the Internet. It's more up to the parties to install and follow security measures. But you can't block false rumors for example, without utterly changing the character of the Internet.
2) One of the best ways to deter such interference is to conclude that Russia didn't change the elections outcome. It apparently happend in France as well, but Macron still won convincingly. If you whine that the elections were swayed, you invite more attempts.
3) Last - in the future it may be impossible to prove that Putin or anyone else was behind the hacking. It's the nature of the Internet.

Collusion though? No idea. Mueller will figure that part out. But even if not proven, let's be honest. You folks still discuss benghazi to this day. You have no room to talk.

It's really just become one big joke the way you guys keep slinging mud at Trump, just hoping some of it will stick. Even members of your own party are getting sick of hearing it. But I guess it's going to take another major defeat in 2020 for you guys to get the message.

America is really crying Wolf, that Putin selected Trump as President. Trump's campaign was a joke.

Just shows how the media can make or break political scandals, because if they were doing their jobs as watchdogs, Obama would have been a scandal ridden president with the IRS targeting of conservative groups, gun running to Mexican cartels, spying on journalists, spying on political opponents, using the government agencies to intimidate people like Kathryn Englebrect (sp?) in Houston who started True the Vote. The list goes on. The biggest scandal of the Obama years was the media's unwillingness to investigate him even a quarter as much on real scandals as they spend on stupid stuff Trump does like misspell a word on a tweet.

It's a real thing and NOT made up BS like Benghazi. Benghazi did not require a 29 month investigation to know that 4 Americans died and why.

Trump's own stupidity has led the Russia investigation into unchartered territory with his stupid tweets, his lies about Comey, his firing of Comey, and then his lies about tapes.

The man is a stupid fool. He SHOULD have come out from Day 1 and said he wanted to get to the bottom of Russian interference. Then this wouldn't be so political. But he had to tweet and demonize and lie; he's the source of all his problems.
Without collusion (and there's nothing there), the Russian hacking is completely on the Obama Administration's watch. He was in charge of security, not Trump.

You are describing the Democrat party.

The rest of us win elections.

I know. It's awful hypocritical and I'm willing to forgo interfering in other nations to get back on the straight and narrow.

But rolling over for Putin is a non-starter for me.
Again, it is our responsibility to prevent these things from happening, and Obama was the one in charge of preventing it from happening in 2016.

Exactly, it was Obama's failure. His administration was unable to provide the security needed to protect the election from Russian intrusion.

Liberals just want to close their eyes to this fact.

I bet they'll freak when probably the most that will come from this investigation is a report on how we could have prevented it but didn't. Of course they'll say something stupid like it's the Republicans in congress "cutting" budgets so the Administration couldn't upgrade systems (but they can waste billions of dollars on nothing).

How to stop Russians from voting in the elections.

VoterID in all 50 will fix it.

Of course the Democrat party doesn't want this. They can't win anything without voter fraud.
