IMO, any healthcare bill that is passed should include a requirement that Congress and the President receive their coverage through it.
They might pay a whole lot more attention to what's in it if it directly affects them.
Rand Paul has the best answer. Let the insurance companies who make an inflated $15 billion profit every year, absorb the cuts. He believe insurance policies should cost no more than $1 per day for the poorest and that the taxpayers should not have to absorb the cost of medicaid.
And he is so right. He should have been the nominee for the GOP, not the imbecile who is in the oval office with no ideas, no policies and no clue what is in the health care bill. I doubt he would be in the meetings allowing insurance lobbyists to write the bill. The Swamp? It is thriving.
Oh yeah, I remember Trump saying no cuts to Medicaid and he would destroy the insurance companies. But he could care less what he said, and he doesn't remember anyhow. He even forgot about the swamp and went ahead and filled it up Wall Street one-percenters and lobbyists. Empty vessel with empty slogans and a giant orange ego. A waste of space.
It's a widely embraced business concept that the 100% solution isn't cost effective. In fact, the point of diminishing returns is around 80%. At 93%, we should call the health care situation a success and focus on more important issues. Rubio is correct.
So 7% of planes could crash and all would be well?
What percentage of consumer electronics (phones, computers) would be expected to not be "100% solution"? I think the percentage of non-defective products in many categories is higher than 98%.
How about internet connection and web sites - would you be happy with a web site being down 7 to 20% of the time?
I've been in a lot businesses during my lifetime and never heard this one!

So the party of the free market would FORCE companies to give up their profits?
More and more regulation?
That does not sound like the GOP I know unless the regulation includes throwing people off the rolls and women's wombs.
Well, we get the President we deserve and I guess we get the healthcare we deserve. Since I'm 55 - I wonder how much my premiums will go up now that the insurance carriers are allowed to charge me thousands more?
