Well this may have something to do with his removal.

Dr. Murthy has for years made headlines for calling gun violence a public health threat. In 2014, the National Rifle Association urged the Senate not to confirm him.

Very strange coincidence that the congressman who passed legislation restricting CDC research on gun fatalities passed away yesterday.

Dickey served from 1993-2001. Among his most disputed bills was a 1996 measure prohibiting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from conducting research on gun violence. He said later the research could have been done without infringing on the rights of gun owners. President Obama lifted the ban in 2013, through an executive order

Life is funny..the guy who blocked research dies..and the one person who might have pushed for expanded research..is out

Admiral Trent-Adams received a doctorate in philosophy from the University of Maryland. She was a nurse officer in the Army and also served as a research nurse at the University of Maryland. She joined the Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service in 1992 and served as the deputy associate administrator for the HIV/AIDS bureau of the Health Resources and Services Administration before joining the surgeon general’s office.
The new Surgeon General is getting ready to experience how nasty liberals can be to women of color if they don't toe the liberal line.

They are already ridiculing her for being "just a nurse."

Not a bad idea. Why do we need a whole agency to put a warning on a box? Do your own research and if you think that smoking is bad for you then don't smoke. Leave individual smoking laws up to the states.
