I can agree with that. In fact, I thought it was stupid for CNN to bother finding who created the gif. It's like trying to find out who created the first anti-semitic pepe the frog meme.
The one thing I noticed is that Stone Cold Steve Austin's theme was edited in there while Trump was walking around the ring.
I was actually at that Wrestlemania, and Austin's music didn't play when Trump attacked Vince. That and yeah, the WWE logo wasn't visible in the video Trump posted.
Just from that alone, yeah seems like something could be off here. And if this BuzzFeed article is true, then dang, CNN really messed up AGAIN if they tried to expose the wrong person.
The attention to detail is pretty convincing in that article. They saved the screenshots of the original gif and have multiple inconsistencies compared to Trump's tweet.

That's a relief that you at least understand that.
We have people in this thread who believe finding the originator of a meme/gif means anyone who uses that meme/gif got it from the exact place it was created.

Yeah it's blowing up on Twitter right now. If this is true, it just makes CNN look even more like a joke and this will blow up in their face.
Sadly, had CNN just left this alone, there'd be no need to dig at this level of detail. At all.
Seems like the HanSolo guy posted it somewhere, at some point, and someone took it and edited it. Which is fine. But where CNN was wrong at was using him as the CREATOR of the video Trump shared and using Solo because he has a racist post history.
The way I see it, if HanSolo didn't create the video Trump shared, CNN is in doo-doo.

(grabs popcorn) this entertains me.
Why?
He apologized and took down his posts before he had any conversations with CNN. CNN did not coerce him.

LOL.
It is entertaining. I have been mesmerized by it.
If I recall correctly you're a libertarian-leaning guy.
I'm an anarcho-capitalist. Didn't vote for Trump. Not a GOPer. Honestly, just by default I hate everything Trump does because he's a statist.
Having said that the media is the bigger obstacle to freedom if you ask me. Presidents come and go. The media is by far a more controlling influence over society as a whole.
